Vacation Bible School at Calvary Chapel Las Vegas

Open my eyes, that I may see wondrous things from your law. Psalm 119:18

Beyond thrilling! Exciting to explore! Breathtakingly beauti-ful! Full of treasure! Words that describe the Arctic for sure, a fascinating region like no other in the world. But go back and read those words again—they can also be used to describe the coolest book on the planet—the Bible. It’s mind-blowing to think that the God who made the universe wrote us a book—a book that is beyond thrilling, exciting to explore, beautiful, and full of treasure.

Calvary Chapel Christian School is proud to Present: Broadway’s timeless classic musical, Peter Pan! Let us whisk you away to a place where dreams are born and no one ever grows up!

Peter and his mischievous fairy sidekick, Tinkerbell, visit the nursery of the Darling children late one night and, with a sprinkle of pixie dust, begin a magical journey across the stars that none of them will ever forget. In the adventure of a lifetime, the travelers come face to face with a ticking crocodile, a fierce Indian tribe, a band of bungling pirates and, of course, the villainous Captain Hook.

Peter Pan is the perfect show for the child in all of us… who dreamed of soaring high and never growing up.

Jesus said to him, “If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes.” Mark 9:23

Dear Friends,
I am excited to share that our plans to build an outdoor sport court are moving forward. Once we raise the funds and God is willing, we plan to break ground and have it ready by the fall of 2017!

The reason I am writing to you today is to invite you to include the “Support the Court” initiative in your plan for year-end giving.

We have currently raised $15K from the popcorn, change for change, and cookie dough fundraising events conducted so far this year.  If we could raise $30K by the end of 2016, we could have 50% of the money raised by the time we conduct our final spring “Fun Run” event which is targeting $45K.  When we reach our goal of $90K, we plan to break ground and begin the 8-week building process.  Our hope is to start this summer but we will ultimately wait for God’s timing.

While we eagerly look forward to adding this facility to our campus,

we see this as much more than a “Sport Court.”  It really is a place where kids will connect with kids, athletes improve their skills, and where fun happens every day of the year.  Sports and physical activity is a venue that God often uses to cultivate a myriad of heart issues.

As 2016 comes to a close, we hope you will consider making a year-end gift to Calvary Chapel Christian School’s “Sport Court” initiative. We are a 501(3)c nonprofit and will provide a tax receipt letter for your donation. Thanks in advance for your consideration.  I look forward to see God do exceedingly above and beyond all that we can think or imagine (Eph. 3:20-21)!

Just click this link and follow the secure online giving instructions or you can write a check with “Sport Court” on the memo line and send it to:

Parents can visit www.classbundl.com.  Select Calvary Chapel Christian School – Spring Valley.  Then select the grades your children will be in for the school year.  Please note a couple of things: 1. Some of the bundls will need additional items purchased outside of the bundl.  2. Some of the bundls specify certain items for boys to bring as well as certain items for girls to bring.  Parents just need to deselect the items they do not want to purchase.  3. If your child would like to have a certain school supply (i.e. folders, pencils, etc). just deselect those items from the bundl and purchase those elsewhere.  This is a great fundraiser for the school as they receive 5% of all sales.  Shipping is FREE! Go CCCS!.

When Judge James Wilson issued an injunction against Education Savings Accounts in January, the most inclusive school choice program in the nation was put on hold.
More than 4,000 students who are already enrolled in the program — and thousands more who were planning on applying in 2016 — are left desperately looking for answers.
These families need a show of support.
That’s why NPRI has launched an online campaign to help defend parents in the face of ongoing legal and other campaigns that are trying to force their children back into failing, government, factory-style schools.

The “Raise the Flag Club” begins first term of service.

A new program for students to learn a way to respect our country and serve our school will begin in October on the Elementary campus.  Students accepted into the program will raise and lower the flag, fold the flag, and learn how to conduct a flag ceremony.

Applications are being accepted to join this new initiative created by Principal Judy Nye.

According to Nye, “Students don not know how to honor the flag and this is our opportunity to promote patriotism with our youth.”  The goal for the program is to teach students flag etiquette and give them an opportunity to honor one of our countries symbols.

Fourth grade students will be tested on basic facts concerning the American Flag to determine eligibility. They will learn how to fold the flag, how to raise and lower it, and then be responsible to take care of the flag each day.  Student teams will rotate on a weekly basis.  We are all excited about this new program.

“Parents in Prayer”
 just doubled!

“Parents in Prayer” coordinator Karen Davy and the prayer team has been asking the Lord to double the amount of prayer warriors. They meet every Friday at 8:30 a.m. in the Kid City room on the Elementary campus.

This week, God answered and sent five moms and four dads to pray for our school.  When asked how many parents the team would like to see participate on a weekly basis, the resounding answer was more!

The goal is to fill the Kid’s City room with parents and establish small groups of 6 throughout the room to pray for God’s presence to move in our school.   Right now, we are asking God to double our number to 18.  Once we see God answer this prayer, we will set our sights to double again. Will you consider joining this team of prayer warriors?

Can you imagine what God will do in response to the weekly prayer of parents crying out for this generation?  The answer is found in Ephesians 3:20!

Thanks team of 9 for praying today! I look forward to praying with a team of 18 in the near future as we continue to double up.

Helping Hands Update

Dear Parents,

We are half way through our school wide fundraiser. The kids have all been blessed with fun prizes, like In n Out  meals on Monday, free dress passes, shopping at the Friday Fun Store and  more! We currently have 125 families signed up and over $23,000 raised to date! Praise the Lord! We are praying for a goal of $80,000 by September 24th and in order to reach this goal we every families help!

  1. PRAY – Lift up our fundraiser in prayer, we are believing God not only to reach but to exceed our goal, for continued participation and excitement from our entire school body and for the Lord to surround us with generous hearts that want to give to raising the next generation in His name.
  2. START – If you haven’t signed up for a page yet go to cccslions.org  now and start your page. Scroll to the bottom and click on the Helping Hands logo.
  3. GIVE  – If you have started your page but do not have any donations – make a sacrifice and donate $25 to start off your fundraiser, then ask 4 – 6 family members or friends to do the same.
  4. CHALLENGE – Send a personal email out with your link challenging your friends and family to skip a coffee or  not eat out  this weekend and donate to your family page instead, remind them that $1 out of every $10 will go to Three Square to help fight hunger in our community
  5. ENCOURAGE – Encourage your children to come up with some creative ways to ask for donations.

We have over 350 families at our school and we need everyone’s participation to reach our goal. Remember this fundraiser will help keep our tuition low and close the gap between what it costs to educate each child and what we pay.  Not only will it help our school, but we are also helping our community fight hunger through Three Square.

Even if you don’t think you can reach the goal, I encourage you to still start your page, donate a little and see what doors God can open! Every little bit counts! The more families we have participating, the closer we will be to exceeding our goal.  Our heart is that all families come together and try their best to do their part in making this year’s Helping Hands a success!!

If anyone needs help we will be meeting in the elementary computer lab – room 123 on Friday at 3:15. We can assist you with setting up your page, linking it to social media, and sending out emails.

2 Corinthians 8:11-12

Now finish the work, so that your eager willingness to do it may be matched by your completion of it, according to your means.

For if the willingness is there, the gift is acceptable according to what one has, not according to what one does not have.

In His service,

Helping Hands Fundraising Team

Prayer Walk for Enrollment Drive 2015

January is the month we gear up for our enrollment drive. After our mandatory parent meeting scheduled for January 22, we will open our re-enrollment to existing families and then begin enrollment for new families in March. Our goal is to grow our school to include every family throughout the Valley that God desires to send us. In order to discover these families, I am asking you to consider joining me in daily prayer for our school during the month of January. I have developed a prayer guide and a prayer route to help us navigate the call to prayer. Prayer is the first step in our Enrollment Drive 2015.

Congressman Joe Heck visits Calvary

Just before Election Day, the Academy Government class had the honor of hosting a talk by Congressman Joe Heck. The students were able to ask Congressman Heck his thoughts on relevant topics ranging from faith to the Ebola outbreak. The students and the congressman wrapped up the visit by praying for our government. Thank you Congressman Heck for your visit!
